The Survey of Yi Xuan Painting and Calligraphy Assoiation
Yi Xuan Painting and Calligraphy Association of Guangdong Teachers College of Foreign Language and Arts was established on March 22nd, 2003 by merging The Youth Painting and Calligraphy Association in Guangdong Art Normal School and Shaoxi Painting and Calligraphy Association in Guangdong Foreign Language Normal School. It is a student association, where the fanciers who have already acquired the basic knowledge and skills of painting and calligraphy get together to exchange and develop their knowledge and skills in traditional Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy, and carving.
As a big association among the other student associations in our college, Yi Xuan Painting and Calligraphy Association plays a very important role. Organized with rigorous discipline, this Association aims at improving the skills of painting and calligraphy as well as the knowledge of Chinese traditional arts of its members through organizing various activities, such as the calligraphy parties, seminars, and meetings.
This Association pursues a democratic management system with a goal to meet the needs of its members. Its members are allowed to propose their requests to the council and have the right to be involved in running the association affairs. In this way the members could develop their capacities to manage and lead besides learning the painting and calligraphy knowledge and skills.
The Association creates a very resourceful environment. Apart from encouraging the exchange of views between the members, the Association also invites the students from other colleges to share their knowledge with its members. Moreover, it employs some of the senior teachers in the college as its honorary counselors, and some well-known painters and calligraphers as visiting teachers to give lectures to the members. Besides, the Association arranges regular tours to the large exhibitions of excellent paintings and calligraphy works with the view to help its members enjoy a wider vision of arts.
